Vein Specialist Dr. David Gardner Draughn, MD, FACS, RVT, RPVI, RPhS is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine (commonly known as “board certified”).
Dr. Draughn graduated from medical school at the University of Mississippi in 1987, he did internship at the University of Kentucky, and was a surgical resident at Louisiana State University from 1988-1993, becoming Chief Resident of General Surgery in 1992.
Dr. Draughn practiced General, Vascular and Thoracic Surgery until 2008. Since 2006, has since dedicated his practice to venous disease and helping patients learn about and effectively treat their conditions. He is a leader in the field and has led multiple studies in vein research. He is also published in peer reviewed medical journals; Dr. Draughn is truly a forever student and is focused on finding the best solutions to treat his patients for life. With 28 years of experience as a vein specialist in research and treatment, he is an expert in the field and someone you can trust to give you the treatment you need.

DAVID DRAUGHN, MD, FACS, RVT, RPVI, RPhS
Dr Draughn was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi. He graduated Cum Laude from Millsaps College in Jackson in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry. He went to medical school at the University of Mississippi in Jackson from 1983 to 1987. He did his internship at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY from 1997 to 1998. He completed his surgical residency training at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, LA from 1988-1993 becoming Chief Resident 1992-93. He scored in the top 10% in the nation on his Surgical Boards. He entered private group practice in 1993 with Gastonia Surgical Associates. In 2001, he started his own practice of General, Laparoscopic, Vascular and Thoracic Surgery and Endoscopy: Draughn Surgical Clinic, PA. In 2006, he transitioned his practice to the exclusive treatment of vein disorders, renaming it Vein Specialists of the Carolinas, PA.
