VARICOSE VEIN TREATMENT

Has Never Been Easier!

It’s not even the end of the day and you can’t wait to sit down and put your feet up. The heaviness, aching and throbbing you feel in your lower extremities may even be clearly visible by the bluish trails along your legs. If so, you probably dislike what you see as much as the discomfort it causes.

Every spring many women and men alike stand looking in the mirror deciding “Pants or shorts?” When they look down at their legs they are reminded of how self-conscious they are of their unattractive Varicose and Spider Veins. Vein disease is extremely common. Left untreated, vein problems only get worse over time.

To fully evaluate your venous system, an ultrasound of the leg veins is nearly always needed and is required by insurance companies to establish medical necessity. The exception is if your vein problem is only cosmetic in nature.

EXPECTATIONS Of Your Visit:

A treatment plan that is right for you.

A diagnosis that you can understand.

All questions answered to your satisfaction.

A simple explanation of the benefits and risks of any procedures recommended.

Referral to another specialist, if your problem is not vein related.

Properly fitted compression garments if needed.

About Dr. Draughn
Dr. David Gardner Draughn, MD, FACS, RVT, RPVI, RPhS is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine (commonly known as “board certified”).

Welcome to my practice.

Thank you for visiting Vein Specialists of the Carolinas where we treat much more than varicose and spider veins, like phlebitis, deep vein thrombosis, leg swelling and more.
I have assembled a team of professionals. Together we are committed to providing our patients with state of the art treatment for every problem of the venous system.

It is our goal to conduct a comprehensive review of your leg vein problem in order to determine the proper vein treatment for you at the initial consultation.  We perform a complete venous leg ultrasound, measure your legs for accurate fitting of compression garments, and take detailed digital images of your legs.  Dr. Draughn reviews the results of the ultrasound with you and constructs a detailed treatment plan at this initial visit.

It is our desire for you leave this visit with:

  1. A diagnosis that you can understand
  2. A treatment plan that is right for you
  3. A simple explanation of the benefits and risks of any procedures recommended
  4. All questions answered to your satisfaction
  5. Properly fitted compression garments  if needed
  6. Referral to another specialist, if your problem is not vein related.
  7. A smile

The venous system is very complex. Treatment for some people is nothing more than a few injections for spider veins at their first visit. For others with more significant venous problems, it is a step by step process requiring several visits. Some may require lifelong management.

All of the procedures are simple, safe, effective and performed in the office.

"I had contemplated having this procedure for a number of years..."

I had contemplated having this procedure for a number of years, yet I delayed and continued to live with aches and pains of the varicose veins. When I met Dr. Draughn and his staff, I realized this could be helped. My procedures went well with very little discomfort. I was even able to continue my daily activities and recovery time was short. I am amazed at how much better my legs and feet feel.

"I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Draughn and his staff. "

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Draughn and his staff. When I went for my appointment the receptionist greeted me with a smile. After I filled out my paperwork she told me that some one would be with me shortly. Soon after that the ultrasound girl came and got me for test on my veins. Dr. Draughn went over the results with me and explained the problems I was having with my veins. Once the insurance approved the procedures I needed I was scheduled quickly. After the procedures to treat my veins my legs feel so much better. The pain and swelling has improved greatly in my legs. I have highly recommended Dr. Draughn to many of my friends.

"I could not be more happy!"

One year after having had varicose vein surgery with Dr. Draughn (and spider vein treatments with Beverly), I could not be more happy! The discomfort in my lower leg is gone, my calves are actually the same size again (for the first time in 15+ years!), and I’m happy to wear skirts and shorts again! In addition, I found out I was pregnant a few months after completing the vein treatments, and my leg looked and felt great throughout the pregnancy, and didn’t swell and become painful as it had with my previous pregnancy. Getting vein surgery was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! Wish I had done it a decade sooner!

"After my first procedure on each leg, I immediately experienced improvement. "

I came to Vein Specialists of the Carolinas with a large amount of varicose veins, ankle swelling, constant leg fatigue, and pain. I was told that I would have a series of procedures to correct my vein problems. Each visit was thoroughly explained to me and the procedures went just as expected. Most procedures were relatively painless. The entire staff at Dr. Draughn’s office is welcoming and friendly. They do everything in their power to make each visit as stress free and comfortable as possible. After my first procedure on each leg, I immediately experienced improvement. Now that all the procedures are complete I have no leg pain, no swelling, and no leg fatigue, even after standing in a school classroom all day. My legs feel and look the best they have in years. I highly recommend Vein Specialists of the Carolinas. Everyone staffed at theis practice is awesome and supportive from your first visit to your last. Thank you Dr. Draughn and staff for making my legs feel years younger.
