Summer travel is in full swing and residents in North and South Carolina will be going on vacation before school starts back. Driving and flying long distances can be uncomfortable for everyone, but if you are over the age of 50 you should be cautious of the vein disorder called Deep Vein Thrombosis – or DVT.
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a medical condition that occurs when a blood clot forms in a deep vein. These clots usually develop in the lower leg, thigh, or pelvis, but they can also occur in the arm. The main cause of DVT is slow or sluggish blood flow which can be caused during those hours of inactivity while you are traveling.
