Twas the week before Christmas, and all through our clinic, Not a vein was neglected, not even a tiny little prick.

The compression stockings were hung by the ultrasound with care, In hopes that healthier legs soon would be there.

The patients were nestled all snug in their gowns, While visions of pain-free days danced all around. And Dr. Draughn in his scrubs, and our team in their gear, Had just settled in for a day of procedures, oh so clear.

When out in the lobby, there arose such a clatter, Our front desk staff sprang up to see what was the matter. Away to the door, they flew like a flash, To welcome a patient whose veins needed a dash.

The fluorescent lights on the modern decor, Gave a luster of hope to those walking through the door. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a team of specialists, dedicated and sincere.

With a skillful approach, so lively and quick, I knew in a moment, they’d make those veins slick. More rapid than eagles, the lasers they came, And they whistled and shouted, and called them by name.

“Now, VenaCure! Now, ClosureFast! Now, Sclerotherapy and Flexitouch! On, Compression Stockings! On, Phlebectomy! On, Consultation, oh so much! To the top of the legs! To the tips of the toes! Now treat away! Treat away! Treat away, woes!”

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly, When met with an obstacle, mount to the sky, So up to the ceiling, the healthy blood rose, With the expertise of our doctors, no vein left in throes.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard by the door, The laughter and joy of those ailing no more. As I drew in my head and was turning around, Through the door, Dr. Draughn came with a bound.

He was dressed in his scrubs, from his head to his toe, And his clothes were all spotless, not a stain to show. A bundle of results he had flung on his back, And he looked like a healer, just opening his pack.

His eyes—how they twinkled! His smile, how merry! His hands were like magic, banishing veins that were scary! The stump of a needle he held tight in his hand, And the results, they encircled him like a band.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, And fixed all the veins, then turned with a jerk. And laying a hand on the patient’s strong calf, He nodded in satisfaction and let out a soft laugh.

He sprang to his feet, to his team gave a whistle, And away they all flew like the down of a thistle. But I heard him exclaim, as he walked out of sight, “Healthy veins to all, and to all a good night!”
