Vein Specialists of the Carolinas is dedicated to providing patients with state of the art treatment in all aspects of vein disease. We are currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner for the Charlotte Office.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Licensed FNP-C
  • Strong communication skills required
  • Strong customer service skills required
  • Sensitivity to confidential matters and professional demeanor needed.

Performance Requirements:

As part of the medical encounter, the FNP-C will:

a. gather data (medical history, physical examination, order laboratory or radiological data),
b. analyze and synthesize the data (assessment/differential diagnosis),
c. execute and relay medical regimens,
d. sign for and distribute pharmaceutical samples,
e. give written and verbal orders to office staff,
f. order, prescribe and administer controlled substances Category II-V with an active DEA number,
g. prescribe and dispense drugs, pharmaceutical aids, compression garments and other VSC approved devices,
h. perform patient education services including prevention of DVT,
i. order venous ultrasounds including iliac and pelvic studies for diagnosis of May-Thurner and Pelvic Congestion Syndrome
j. order x-rays including CT and MRI as necessitated,
k. management and treatment of DVT either primary or as a result of a procedure,
l. develop a treatment plan (further testing, pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapy, watchful observation, referral, and follow-up)
m. treat the patient based on acceptable standards of care in that respective specialty
n. assess the progress of treatment and alter the plan as necessary (management)
o. document the encounter in a medical record
p. complete additional paperwork/electronic transmission as needed by the patient and condition (i.e. School Physical exam form)
q. the Nurse Practitioner, in concert with the supervising physician, will provide treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, preventive care and health education for all ages and sexes.
r. referral of patient to other specialists as needed

Dr. Draughn has dedicated his entire practice to Specializing in the Treatment of Venous Disease. He is a Board Certified Surgeon, Board Certified in Venous and Lymphatic Medicine, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Member of the American Venous Forum, Member of the American College of Phlebology, Registered Vascular Technician and Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation. He has 24 years of experience with the management of this disease process. We have two locations: Charlotte and Gastonia, NC.
